The IHU INFINY Annual Symposium will take place in Nancy, France, on 19 November 2026, bringing together leading researchers, clinicians, and patient representatives to discuss the latest advances in research and innovation in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).
Throughout the day, participants will explore some of the key scientific and clinical challenges shaping our understanding and management of IBD.
The 2026 edition will be structured around three main thematic sessions:
Understanding the Role of the Environment and the Microbiome
IBD results from complex interactions between environmental exposures, diet, the gut microbiome, and the immune system. Advances in microbiome research and the development of large prospective cohorts are providing unprecedented insights into the factors driving disease onset and progression. This session will highlight recent discoveries and discuss their implications for future research and prevention strategies.
Managing IBD as a Systemic Disease
The impact of IBD extends well beyond the gastrointestinal tract. This session will explore current challenges in patient management, with a particular focus on cardiovascular and rheumatologic manifestations. Bringing together experts from different disciplines, it will examine the need for a more integrated and holistic approach to patient care.
Advancing Disease Characterization Through Imaging
A more precise understanding of disease is essential to improving patient outcomes. Advances in imaging, artificial intelligence, and innovative training tools are rapidly transforming clinical practice. This session will showcase cutting-edge projects and technological innovations developed by IHU INFINY and its partners.
The symposium will conclude with a patient roundtable discussion, offering an opportunity to reflect on the day’s scientific and clinical advances through the perspective of those living with IBD.
Through these three themes, the 2026 IHU INFINY Symposium will highlight the Institute’s commitment to bridging fundamental research, clinical investigation, and technological innovation to improve the lives of patients with IBD.
